Particle physics gives me a large hadron.

I get to tour CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider and the search for the structure of the universe.

An atom is a particle of matter that uniquely defines a chemical element. But what makes up an atom? That's what the scientists at CERN are studying.

Ask CERN a question

Where in the world is CERN,
and why am I going there?

I ask questions.

Depending on your frame of reference, this quality can be interesting, educational, funny, interruptive, and/or annoying.

#sorrynotsorry

Last year my wonderful friends Ben & Amber wrangled a tour of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. CERN is one of the world's largest and most respected scientific research centers; here, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe.
In my continuing quest to understand as much as I can about humanity's existence in the cosmos, CERN seems to be a logical step in seeking the equation of 42. I also like to share the question asking experience with other like-minded folks; more minds, more questions, and more perspectives.

Virgin Galactic has been connecting customers with additional experiences of a lifetime; last year, some lucky Future Astronauts scored the opportunity to view some of Sir Isaac Newton's original papers and have lunch Dr. Stephen Hawking. (Hats off to Prof. Nigel Henbest for instigating.)

VG seemed in the best position to wrangle a multi-national trip, so I asked if we could visit CERN. Result? A group of us are headed to Geneva at the end of August to learn more about large scale research and particle physics!

In preparation for one of the more amazing experiences in my life, I am working on a list of questions and would like your input! I will post answers here after the tour on August 31.

Have recent adjustments in dark matter theories impacted any prior planned but not yet performed experiments at CERN?
